The vaccine has arrived in our country! And while our front liners are getting their shots, the rest of us will have to wait a little longer for our turn. Therefore, we should not let our guards down!

While we stay safe at home, we make the most out of this time by boosting our immune systems! Luckily, it does not take rocket science to do this... it's actually pretty simple.

1. Get enough sleep

Dr. Mateo Valenti of Beaumont internal medicine says that "good sleep allows the body to rejuvenate and fight off infection with a good, well-balanced diet." So hit the sack early! Most adults need at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep, while most children and teenagers need a little more. Give your body the opportunity to recharge and heal itself!

2. Eat the rainbow

Basically, eat lots of differently colored fruits and vegetables! According to Healthline, plants contain different pigments or phytonutrients, which give them their color. A variety of the different colors are linked to higher levels of specific nutrients to benefit various areas of your health.

3. RISE and get moving!

Studies have shown that physical activity naturally and significantly boosts the body's defense mechanisms. Furthermore, a study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine stated that among people who engaged in aerobic exercise five or more times per week, upper respiratory tract infection decreased by over 40% over 12 weeks. What a good reason to get on that yoga mat, carry those weights, or simply run in place while watching your favorite Netflix series!

We are all definitely itching to get outdoors already -- and that is understandable. But, let us not forget that:

So, stay fit and stay healthy, and grow from home, dear Marians!
